Wales’ bespoke drum designs in AR
Started as a dream between friends, Rhys Thomas and Geraint Frowen created Tarian Drums in 2018 with the ambition to be Wales’ bespoke drum manufacturer taking clients on a creative journey from the very first to final stages of their craftsmanship.
With environmental care at the heart of the company Tarian make sure that every step in their process aligns with their ethos, from using water-based finishings with lower VOC content to their plastic-free packaging, and upon receipt of each drum clients are given a choice of where they wish to plant a tree in their name. But they haven’t stopped there. Geraint and Rhys got in touch with CEMET with the aim to develop their own bespoke drum designer app complete with AR capabilities in order to allow their clients to create and accurately visualise their drums as they want them whilst cutting out unnecessary travel and transport for both client and company.
An app focused on a pioneering client experience
With our objective of making the client’s creative process tantamount to what they could experience in the workshop CEMET and Tarian designed and developed the app to allow the user the ability to experiment with designing a plethora of different drumsets, customising everything from wood type, lugs, hoops, heads and snares, even their choice of oil finish - and at any point being able to switch from a light “lab” setting to a dark “stage” to the user’s own actual environment via AR. And with the Wales being at the core of Welsh-speakers Rhys and Geraint’s identity it was essential for the app to be bilingual.
