Utilising Mobilized Data Using Artificial Intelligence

Mobilized Construction are global providers of data and AI analytics. This data identifies road network quality and highlights areas in need of improvement. To collect this data they use a custom sensor that can be attached to any moving vehicle, on any road, globally. Their solutions have been used in every type of road environment, seeing them work around the world, including the United Kingdom, Kenya, and Uganda.

With a strong focus on optimising the speed at which a pothole is recognised, Mobilized had the hardware to collect data on potholes but no way of utilising this valuable information. They needed to further innovate if they were to achieve their solution of recognising potholes and poor road health as soon as the issues develop.

A Machine Learning Model with 90% Accuracy

CEMET undertook a 3-month project which was split up into two separate parts, application development and machine learning. A prototype IOT application was developed which enabled Mobilized Construction to collect driving data. Following this, CEMET built a machine-learning model that was capable of learning from the driving data, predicting potholes with an accuracy of over 90%.
