CEMET Shortlisted for Prestigious Wales STEM Awards 2023

CEMET (Centre of Excellence in Mobile & Emerging Technologies) is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 Wales STEM Awards, sponsored by Cardiff Metropolitan University. This recognition celebrates organisations and individuals that have made a significant impact on the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) agenda in Wales.

The Wales STEM Awards 2023 will showcase those leading the way in various categories, including businesses contributing to the Welsh economy, addressing the STEM diversity gap and skills shortage, and inspiring the next generation. We are honoured to be among 55 esteemed finalists, which include prominent names such as Admiral Insurance, EDF Renewables, Sony UK Technology Centre, and TATA Steel.

Since our establishment in 2015, CEMET has worked tirelessly on over 118 projects, covering diverse fields such as virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI), medical technology, security, and more. Notably, we have collaborated with SMEs on over 70 research and development projects and supported 552 Welsh businesses.

Our dedication to innovation and advancing STEM in Wales has led to this recognition, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be considered for the "STEM Team of the Year" award, sponsored by Linea Resourcing. It is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our team, partners, and collaborators.

The winners will be unveiled at the awards ceremony taking place at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel on 13th October 2023. The judging panel, comprising industry experts, will carefully evaluate the finalists' contributions to the STEM landscape in Wales.

Liz Brookes, co-founder of the Wales STEM Awards, expressed her awe at the talent and innovation demonstrated by all the nominees. She emphasised the undeniable impact these organisations and individuals have on furthering the STEM agenda in the country.

Dr. Louise Bright, head of judges and founder of Wales Women in STEM Network, praised the remarkable achievements highlighted in the shortlisted entries. This recognition showcases the strength of the STEM sector in Wales and the inspiring initiatives being undertaken.

We extend our gratitude to Grapevine Event Management, communications agency Jamjar, and all the sponsors, including Cardiff Metropolitan University, XMA, CSA Catapult, Cardiff Medicentre, Linea Resourcing, and Red Knight Consultancy, for organising and supporting the Wales STEM Awards.

As we eagerly await the awards ceremony, we take this moment to reflect on the impact of our work and the meaningful collaborations that have contributed to the advancement of STEM in Wales. We are thrilled to share this news with our partners, clients, and the community that has been instrumental in our journey.

Together, we will continue to champion the importance of STEM, bridge the diversity gap, and inspire future generations to embrace the exciting opportunities offered by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. Thank you for being part of our journey.

Stay tuned for updates on the Wales STEM Awards 2023!
