Head of Cyber Security
Eric Llewellyn is Associate Head for the School of Computing and Mathematics.
Having started his career as an electronic engineering apprentice, Eric went on to study an honours degree in computing at the University of Wales, Newport. After graduating with a 1st class honours, he worked as an IT consultant before moving into a software engineering role. In 2001 he returned to academia to complete a PhD in automated code generation for the control of manufacturing systems.
Having enjoyed academic life, he remained at the University in a lecturing role before moving into a managerial position as an Academic Leader in 2006, initially within computing, but subsequently across computing and engineering. He took up his current post at the University of South Wales in 2013 and has since been involved in a number of projects, including the creation of the National Cyber Security Academy which realised one of his main ambitions which is to embed employability into the curriculum and produce work ready graduates.
Eric has taught across all levels from foundation through to MSc and is currently supervising two PhD students. He has also delivered short courses to students and bespoke courses to industry. Eric has interests in a range of subjects, particularly the integration of software and hardware and intelligent automation.
